Seafood at Ocean Basket Umhlanga

We had a wonderful experience at Ocean Basket Umhlanga. The service was excellent, the staff friendly, and the food delicious. We especially appreciated the generous amount of sauce served on the side. As customers, this is something we truly value. In our previous experiences, there was very little sauce, and it was served directly on the fish. This time, having plenty of sauce served separately made us genuinely happy.It’s also family-friendly, with a play area for children. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Excellent Service, Friendly Staff & Amazing Food! Review: Ocean Basket Umhlanga is one of my favorite places to eat! The service is always good and the staff are so friendly, making every visit enjoyable. The chef cooks everything perfectly—both the sushi and seafood are consistently excellent. I love going there for a relaxed meal with great flavors. The only thing I miss from the menu is the grilled starter calamari tubes, which used to be my favorite. Pleasant Surprise and Great Service at Ocean Basket We hadn’t been to an Ocean Basket in a while, so when we saw the Mother’s Day special, we were pleasantly surprised by the price—it looked like great value for money. The restaurant was very busy for a Friday night, but service was impressively fast, and our waitron, Nonku, was superb—friendly and efficient. We had a good laugh when the bread rolls arrived! They were so tiny, it looked like they’d been baked in an ice cube tray. Next time, I might just stop at the supermarket and bring my own rolls! We ordered the platter at R145 and a large fish and chips at R120. The platter looked just like the one advertised on Facebook, which was a nice surprise. However, in the ad, the lemon garlic sauce was served separately—in our case, it was poured all over the platter. If we had known, we would’ve asked for it on the side, as it tasted more like lemon margarine than sauce. That said, the food itself was excellent—everything grilled to perfection. Only the panko prawns were deep-fried, but they were still enjoyable. Despite the small annoyances, the quality of the food really stood out Yes we will return
